Trump Slams Big Oil for 'Making Too Much Money' Amid Iran War Earnings
US President Donald Trump criticized the country's largest oil companies on Monday, saying they were making too much money from the war with Iran. Trump commented in the Oval Office after ExxonMobil and Chevron reported significant earnings for the second quarter of 2026.
ExxonMobil earned $14.5 billion, double what it made during the same period last year, while Chevron pulled in $12 billion, its highest quarterly earnings in at least six years.
'I don't like it,' Trump said when asked about the huge profits. 'They're making too much money, okay, based on a shortage.'
Trump suggested that some of these profits should be given back to the public and that gasoline prices would 'drop through the floor' once the war with Iran ended.
