Trump Slams Oil Companies for High Gas Prices
U.S. President Donald Trump has called on oil companies to lower gasoline prices for American consumers, accusing Chevron CEO Mike Wirth of failing to credit his administration's efforts in helping the industry.
In a social media post, Trump said that the oil industry and the country would be 'dead' without his administration's support, citing the creation of a market in Venezuela as an example.
Trump also mentioned that Chevron was thrown out of Venezuela but is now back, bigger and stronger than ever before, and that other oil companies should follow suit by lowering consumer prices.
The demand for lower gas prices comes as higher fuel costs pose a political risk to Trump's Republican Party ahead of the November midterm elections.
