US President Donald Trump made an appearance at the Amgen Irish Open golf tournament held at his Trump International Doonbeg course in Ireland. The event marked a milestone for both the course and the DP World Tour, which was making its debut at the venue.

Trump flew from Maryland to Dublin overnight before heading to the west coast of Ireland, where he attended a function at the US ambassador's residence. He then took a helicopter ride to the course, arriving in time to watch some of the third round of the tournament.

The course, which Trump purchased in 2014 for €15m, was ranked 48th in Golf Monthly's UK and Ireland Top 100 courses list. It features huge dunes and stunning coastal views. Shane Lowry led at the start of play after shooting a course-record 62 on Friday.
