Trump Unveils Qatari-Donated 'World's Most Luxurious Plane' as New Air Force One
President Donald Trump unveiled the Qatari-donated Boeing 747 Air Force One at Joint Base Andrews on June 19, 2026. The aircraft is considered the world's most luxurious plane and was donated to the Defense Department by the Qatari royal family last July.
Trump claimed that the jet is 'virtually double in size' to the Boeing VC-25As that have served as the presidential plane since 1990, but it is actually approximately 14 years old. The $400 million jet has raised questions from some lawmakers and ethics experts over the unprecedented foreign gift.
The Trump administration accepted the jet and will use it as a 'bridge' Air Force One until the two new ones being built by Boeing are ready in 2028. Ownership of the plane will be transferred to the Donald J. Trump Presidential Library Foundation shortly before he leaves office, according to sources familiar with the proposed arrangement.
Trump pointed out the waving American flag on the new plane's tail fin and said it 'flies further and faster than any Air Force One' due to its advanced features, including unlimited fuel capacity.
