Trump's Investment Accounts See Heavy Trading Volumes in July
President Donald Trump's financial disclosure for July reveals significant stock sales and purchases across various assets. The filing, which was received by the U.S. Office of Government Ethics on September 14, shows that Trump's investment accounts recorded 1,156 securities transactions in July, with a combined value ranging from $79 million to $270 million.
The largest transactions were Microsoft and Amazon stock sales on July 20, each valued at between $5 million and $25 million. On the same day, there were also large sales of Oracle stock alongside new purchases. Tech stocks gained $291 billion in market value on July 20, which coincided with the significant trading activity.
The filing also shows a mix of bond purchases and stock trades throughout the month, including municipal bonds and ETFs. Sales of positions in companies such as Nvidia, Meta Platforms, and Comcast were also recorded. The disclosure has raised concerns about potential conflicts of interest and whether Trump's personal finances are influencing his official decisions.
The White House has maintained that independent advisors manage Trump's accounts without his input, using automated model portfolios benchmarked to indexes like the Schwab 1000. However, lawmakers have sent letters demanding more information on the money managers behind Trump's investment accounts and explaining certain transactions.
