Trump's Investment Team Unloads on Amazon and Microsoft Amid Market Boom
President Donald Trump's investment team made significant trades in July, selling up to $25 million worth of Amazon and Microsoft stock. According to required U.S. Office of Government Ethics filings, Trump's financial disclosures list approximately 28,700 trades since January 2025.
The two disclosed sales stand out: Amazon (AMZN) and Microsoft (MSFT), each ranging from $5,000,001 to $25,000,000. The president's investment team reportedly uses automated direct-indexing computer models for rapid-fire trading and profit-taking.
Amazon and Microsoft are considered foundational AI stocks, having established themselves as leaders in AI applications through their cloud infrastructure services platforms, AWS and Azure. Both companies have experienced significant sales growth since integrating generative AI and large language model capabilities into their systems.
However, the high market valuations of Amazon and Microsoft may make them vulnerable to a potential bubble-bursting event if the stock market corrects. The Shiller PE Ratio is on the verge of taking out its Dot Com Bubble all-time high.
