Trump's Stock Trades Raise Ethics Concerns Amid War with Iran
President Donald Trump made over 1,000 stock trades in June, including investments in energy companies and defense contractors affected by the Iran war. The 34-page ethics filing lists each trade, with some valued at more than $1 million and others below $5,000.
The portfolio includes shares of Apple, Amazon, Microsoft, McDonald's, Exxon, Chevron, Lockheed Martin, Eli Lilly, Nvidia, and Meta, among others. Critics have raised ethics concerns over these trades, as the companies involved were directly affected by the president's policies.
Trump has denied any influence over the trades, stating that his portfolio is independently managed by a third party. However, he has faced criticism for not divesting or placing his assets in a blind trust like previous presidents.
Democrats on the Joint Economic Committee released a report criticizing Trump's trading of oil and gas stocks, claiming it added to his wealth by over $15 million this year. They argue that while Trump profits from these investments, families pay the price at the pump.
