Turkish Airlines' 737 Max Deal Revived Amid Maintenance Dispute
Turkish Airlines' deal for 150 Boeing 737 Max aircraft is back on track after a dispute over maintenance costs. The deal, part of a larger order for 225 jets announced last year by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and former US President Donald Trump, had stalled due to disagreements between the airline and engine maker CFM.
The agreement may be signed next week, according to sources familiar with the matter. However, it's unclear whether Turkish Airlines and CFM have reached an agreement on setting up a maintenance plant for the 737 Max engines, a key demand by the airline.
Turkish Airlines is one of the world's largest carriers, operating over 400 Boeing and Airbus jets. The airline had threatened to cancel its order for 150 737 Max jets last year due to disagreements with CFM over prices.
