Turkish Airlines Clinches Massive 737 MAX Deal After Engine Dispute
Turkish Airlines has finalized its order for up to 150 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft after a year-long negotiation. The agreement was signed in New York on Wednesday, with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in attendance.
The airline will take delivery of 100 Boeing 737-8s outright and has options for 50 more. It also has the right to substitute the larger 737-10 instead of the -8, which could provide increased seat capacity or range depending on the route.
The deal marks a significant commitment for Turkish Airlines, which operates over 200 Boeing aircraft across its fleet. The airline's Chairman and Executive Committee, Prof Murat Şeker, stated that the new aircraft will bring greater efficiency and flexibility to their operations, supporting their extensive network from Istanbul.
