Turkish Airlines Commits to 150 Boeing 737 MAX Jets Amid Istanbul Expansion
Turkish Airlines has finalized its largest-ever order for Boeing's 737 MAX aircraft, with an agreement in place for up to 150 jets.
The deal includes firm orders for 100 737-8s and options for 50 additional 737 MAX planes. The airline also gained substitution rights for the larger 737-10 model, allowing it to adjust capacity as demand evolves.
The new aircraft will primarily support Turkish Airlines' short- and medium-haul network from its Istanbul hub, particularly on high-demand domestic and international routes.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was present for the agreement signing, which follows an initial negotiation phase that started in 2025. The airline's Chairman, Prof Murat Şeker, stated that the order would bring greater operational efficiency and flexibility while supporting fleet expansion.
