Turkish Airlines Commits to 150+ Boeing 737 MAX Orders
Turkish Airlines has finalized an agreement to purchase up to 150 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, marking the largest single-aisle order in its history with the U.S. manufacturer.
The deal was signed in the presence of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and includes 100 firm orders for the Boeing 737-8 jets, along with an option to purchase 50 additional 737 MAX aircraft or shift some of the order toward the Boeing 737-10 variant.
Turkish Airlines cited the 737-8's range and payload advantages, as well as its lower fuel consumption and emissions by about 20 percent, as key factors in meeting operational needs while expanding its fleet and network.
The airline plans to use these new jets to strengthen its short- and medium-haul operations on both domestic and international routes where demand is particularly high.
