Turkish Airlines Commits to 150-Plane Fleet Expansion with Boeing
Turkish Airlines has announced plans to purchase 150 Boeing aircraft as part of its long-term fleet expansion strategy. The agreement includes a firm order for 100 Boeing 737 MAX planes and options for an additional 50 jets, with deliveries scheduled between 2033 and 2037.
The deal comes after a meeting between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and US President Donald Trump at the United Nations General Assembly. Trump welcomed the agreement on his Truth Social platform, describing it as a major development for Boeing and US manufacturing, which will generate tens of billions of dollars in sales and support tens of thousands of American jobs.
Turkish Airlines' fleet expansion plans are part of its 'Vision 2033' strategy to exceed 800 aircraft. The airline currently operates over 200 Boeing planes and carries around 92.6 million passengers per year, according to corporate figures. The Boeing 737 MAX is designed for short- and medium-haul routes, making it a good fit for Turkish Airlines' extensive network.
