Turkish Airlines Commits to Up to 150 Boeing 737 MAX Jets in Major Deal
Turkish Airlines has finalized an agreement with Boeing to purchase up to 150 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, marking its largest single-aisle order from the manufacturer. The deal is part of Turkish Airlines' long-term growth strategy and aims to strengthen its short- and medium-haul network.
The agreement includes a firm order for 100 Boeing 737-8 aircraft with options for an additional 50 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, as well as the flexibility to switch to the Boeing 737-10. This flexibility will allow Turkish Airlines to adjust fleet capacity according to passenger demand and operational requirements.
The new aircraft are expected to bring greater efficiency and flexibility to operations, supporting the airline's expansion of its Istanbul-based network. Stephanie Pope, president and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, stated that the order reflects 'mutual trust and shared vision' between the companies.
