Turkish Airlines Doubles Down on Boeing with Record-Breaking 737 MAX Order
Turkish Airlines has finalized an agreement to purchase up to 150 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, marking its largest ever order for single-aisle jets. The deal was signed in the presence of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and includes options for an additional 50 planes.
The order comprises 100 firm Boeing 737-8 aircraft and gives Turkish Airlines substitution rights for the larger Boeing 737-10 model. This will allow the airline to adapt its fleet to changing passenger demand across its network.
Turkish Airlines Chairman Prof Murat Şeker stated that the agreement supports the airline's growth strategy, bringing greater efficiency and flexibility to its operations. The new aircraft will particularly benefit short- and medium-haul routes, with a 20% reduction in emissions and fuel consumption.
