Turkish Airlines Finalizes Record 737 MAX Order with Boeing
Turkish Airlines has finalized an order for up to 150 Boeing 737 MAX jets, in what it describes as its largest single-aisle jet deal with Boeing. The agreement was signed in the presence of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and covers 100 firm aircraft, with an option to expand by another 50.
The airline cited the 737-8's range and payload advantages, along with a fuel consumption and emissions reduction of about 20 percent, as factors that would help it meet operational needs while expanding its fleet and network. Turkish Airlines currently operates more than 200 Boeing aircraft, including several models of the 737 MAX.
The deal extends to Türkiye's broader aviation industry, with the two companies continuing broader cooperation tied to Türkiye's aviation ecosystem. A strategic memorandum of understanding was signed this year on industrial participation, establishing a framework for developing technical capabilities and sharing technology and expertise.
