Turkish Airlines Lands Big Boeing Deal Amid Turkey-US Diplomatic Efforts
Turkish Airlines has announced plans to purchase up to 150 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft from Boeing. The deal includes a firm order for 100 jets and options for another 50, with deliveries scheduled between 2033 and 2037. This latest order comes almost exactly a year after the airline announced plans to buy another 225 Boeing aircraft following talks between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and US President Donald Trump.
The flag carrier operates a fleet of 514 aircraft and flies to more than 130 countries, carrying 92.6 million passengers in 2025. The deal is expected to be worth tens of billions of dollars in sales and support tens of thousands of US jobs, according to Trump, who hailed the agreement as 'a big day for Boeing and American manufacturing'. He also mentioned plans by Bangladesh to purchase more Boeing aircraft.
