Turkish Airlines Lands Big Order for Up to 150 Boeing 737 MAX Jets
Turkish Airlines has finalized an order for 100 Boeing 737-8s with options for 50 more, marking its largest single-aisle purchase from the manufacturer. The deal was signed in Istanbul with Turkish President Erdoğan present, and supports the airline's fleet expansion and network growth from the city.
The agreement includes substitution rights for the larger 737-10 variant, which will allow flexibility on high-demand routes. This move supplements the airline's 2025 commitment to up to 75 Dreamliners, reinforcing long-term fleet planning. Turkish Airlines' broader fleet consists of over 190 A321neos and dozens of A350s and 787s.
The new MAX jets will replace aging narrowbodies and support route density. Deliveries will align with future capacity needs, especially as Istanbul hub traffic grows and older 737NGs retire. Travelers may see newer, more efficient planes on Turkish routes sooner, improving comfort and reliability.
