Turkish Airlines Lands Record-Breaking 737 MAX Order
Turkish Airlines has placed its largest-ever order for narrow-body aircraft from Boeing, securing up to 150 737 MAX planes. The agreement was signed on September 23 in Istanbul, with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in attendance.
The deal includes the purchase of 100 737-8 jets and options for 50 more, making it Turkish Airlines' largest single-aisle order from Boeing. The airline also has substitution rights for the 737-10, the largest MAX variant, allowing it to adapt its fleet to changing route demands.
The new aircraft will add efficiency and flexibility to operations from Istanbul, according to Prof. Murat Şeker, Turkish Airlines' Chairman of the Board and Executive Committee. The 737 MAX family cuts fuel use and emissions by 20% compared with earlier models, helping lower operating costs as the airline expands its network.
The order builds on Turkish Airlines' 2025 agreement for up to 75 787 Dreamliners and reflects Boeing's long-standing partnership with the carrier. The deal also includes industrial participation, cementing Boeing's commitment to Turkey's aviation sector.
