Turkish Airlines Nears Deal for 100 Boeing 737 MAX Aircraft
Turkish Airlines is closing in on a deal to purchase 100 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, pending final negotiations with CFM International over engine maintenance terms. The agreement, initially announced in September 2025, was stalled for almost a year due to disagreements between the parties.
The airline had sought more favorable engine pricing and maintenance arrangements, including access to CFM's latest repair technologies through its planned Premier maintenance facility in Turkey. Turkish Airlines Chairman Ahmet Bolat previously warned that the carrier could explore alternative options from Airbus if it failed to reach a satisfactory agreement with CFM.
Boeing is nearing certification of the 737 MAX 10, one of the variants selected by Turkish Airlines, and has already begun assembling the aircraft ahead of regulatory approval. The airline's planned fleet expansion, centered on its Istanbul hub, aims to grow its fleet to around 800 aircraft by 2033.
