The initial commitment originated following high-level diplomatic discussions between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and former U.S. President Donald Trump. However, formal execution stalled for months due to intense disagreements over long-term engine maintenance contracts with power-plant manufacturer CFM International.
