Turkish Airlines Orders 150 Boeing Jets in Major Fleet Expansion
Turkish Airlines has made its largest purchase of Boeing aircraft to date, finalizing an order for 100 737-8 jets and securing options for a further 50 737 MAX planes. The agreement also includes substitution rights for the larger 737-10 model.
The new aircraft will be used to support growth from Turkish Airlines' Istanbul hub on both domestic and international routes, as well as improve operational flexibility on short- and medium-haul flights. Boeing claims that the 737 MAX uses around 20% less fuel and emits 20% less than its predecessor.
Turkish Airlines currently operates over 200 Boeing aircraft, including the 737 MAX, 737 Next Generation, 777, 787 Dreamliner, and 777 Freighter. The airline's subsidiary AJet also operates Boeing planes.
