Turkish Airlines Orders Up to 150 Boeing 737 MAX Jets in Major Deal

Turkish Airlines has finalized a major deal for up to 150 Boeing 737 MAX jets, marking its largest-ever single-aisle order with Boeing. The agreement includes a firm purchase of 100 Boeing 737-8 aircraft and options for another 50 737 MAX jets.

The airline also secured substitution rights allowing some of the aircraft to be switched to the larger 737-10 variant, giving it flexibility in adjusting future deliveries based on traffic growth and capacity requirements. The new aircraft will primarily serve short- and medium-haul routes from Istanbul.

Boeing stated that the 737 MAX family can reduce fuel consumption and emissions by around 20% compared to older aircraft, resulting in lower operating costs for Turkish Airlines as its fleet expands.
