Turkish Airlines Orders Up to 150 Boeing 737 MAX Jets in Major Fleet Expansion
Turkish Airlines has finalized an agreement with Boeing to purchase up to 150 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. The deal, which marks the airline's largest-ever Boeing single-aisle aircraft order, includes 100 firm orders for the 737-8 and options for an additional 50 aircraft.
The agreement supports Turkish Airlines' plans to expand its fleet and short- and medium-haul network, with the new aircraft set to be deployed across high-demand domestic and international routes. The 737-8 offers range and payload flexibility, while providing up to 20% lower fuel consumption and emissions compared with the aircraft it replaces.
The deal also includes substitution rights for the Boeing 737-10, giving Turkish Airlines flexibility to adjust capacity to passenger demand across its network. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended the agreement signing ceremony, which marks a significant step in the airline's continued expansion of its fleet.
