Turkish Airlines Places Record Boeing Order for 150 Jets
Turkish Airlines has finalized its largest-ever order of Boeing aircraft, placing an order for 100 firm 737-8 jets and holding options for 50 more. The deal, which includes substitution rights for the larger 737-10 model, was announced on September 23 and marks a major expansion for the airline's fleet.
The agreement was finalized after months of negotiations with engine manufacturer CFM International, which had delayed the deal due to disagreements over long-term engine-maintenance terms. The airline and Boeing did not disclose the final engine or maintenance terms in their announcements.
According to Turkish Airlines, deliveries are scheduled between 2033 and 2037, following the delivery of its first 787 Dreamliners in 2029-2034. This order exceeds a previous deal signed with Boeing in 2013 for 70 aircraft, which covered 40 737-8s, ten 737-9s, and 20 Next-Generation 737-800s.
