Turkish Airlines Places Record Order for Up to 150 Boeing 737 MAX Jets
Turkish Airlines has finalized an agreement with Boeing for up to 150 737 MAX aircraft, marking the carrier's largest-ever order of single-aisle jets. The deal includes options for an additional 50 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, bringing the total number of firm orders to 100.
The new aircraft will strengthen Turkish Airlines' short- and medium-haul operations, particularly on high-demand domestic and international routes. The Boeing 737-8's range and payload flexibility, along with a 20% reduction in emissions and fuel consumption, will support the carrier's evolving operational requirements as it continues to expand its fleet and network.
Turkish Airlines Chairman of the Board and the Executive Committee Prof Murat Seker described the agreement as 'another significant step' in the airline's continued expansion. He noted that the new Boeing 737 MAX aircraft will bring greater efficiency and flexibility to operations, supporting the extensive network served from the airline's Istanbul hub.
