Kroger and U.S. Bank are ending their credit card partnership, which means current cardholders will be transitioned to the new U.S. Bank Smartly card.

The new card offers 2% cash back on all purchases with no annual fee.

Credit card expert Ana Staples recommended three cards for earning strong cash back rewards on groceries:

The American Express Blue Cash Preferred Card offers 6% cash back on groceries, but has a $95 annual fee and a spending cap of $6,000 per year.

The Capital One Savor Card earns 3% cash back on grocery store purchases and at restaurants, with no annual fee or spending cap.

Staples advises choosing the right card based on individual spending habits, willingness to pay an annual fee, and how much time is spent managing rewards.
