Uber Takes Lead in Autonomous Vehicle Stock Rankings

Investing in autonomous vehicle (AV) stocks can be a complex and uncertain game. However, according to a recent research note by Citizens, some companies are better positioned for success than others.

The key is not just about having the best vehicle technology, but also about navigating the risks associated with commercialization. On a risk-adjusted basis, Uber Technologies Inc (UBER) ranks first, followed closely by Alphabet Inc Class A (GOOGL).

Uber's broad partnerships and existing demand network make it well-suited for commercial success. The company has already seen significant revenue growth, rising from $17.45B in 2021 to $52.02B in 2025 with an impressive 18.3% growth rate in 2025.

On the other hand, Tesla Inc (TSLA) remains a speculative choice with a high price-to-earnings ratio of 370x and -28.0% fair-value upside. Aurora Innovation Inc (AUR), while offering direct AV leverage, is still an unproven entity with only $5M in revenue and negative $751M LTM FCF.
