UCF Knights Wear Disney Magic on Helmets Amid NIL Deal Chaos
The University of Central Florida (UCF) Knights have found an incredibly fitting helmet sponsorship deal with Walt Disney World. The partnership comes as no surprise, given UCF's hometown connection to Orlando and its close ties with the entertainment giant.
The new deal will see a Walt Disney World decal on the back of the Knights' helmets during their game against TCU on Saturday. This is not the first time Disney has sponsored a team's helmet - Disneyland recently announced as the new helmet sponsor for the Anaheim Ducks in California.
UCF's president, Randy Levine, warned that unregulated Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) deals are causing chaos in college sports. He emphasized the need for national standards to protect student-athletes and promote fair play.
In related news, UCF has introduced a viral ticket option offering unlimited hot dogs for part of the game, which may bring some cheer to fans regardless of the team's performance.
