UK Family Hit with £640 Fine for Taking Kids Out of School to Visit Disney World
A recent vacation to Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida has left one UK family with a hefty fine of £640 (approx. $861) for taking their children out of school during term time.
The parents, who reside in the West Midlands, chose to visit Disney World during June, when prices are significantly lower than during school breaks.
According to the mother-of-two, 'the price to go during school break was triple the cost.' She explained that the family's term-time trip cost around £7,500 overall, with £3,000 spent on flights and accommodation and a whopping £4,500 spent on park tickets.
The UK government has implemented rules stating that parents can only be fined up to two times for each child within a three-year period. However, if taken to court, parents could face fines of up to £2,500 (approx. $3,300), community orders, or even jail sentences of up to three months.
