Cleary Gottlieb has been sued by a former client who claims the law firm mishandled its advice on the proposed sale of a holding company. The lawsuit was filed in London and seeks damages for alleged negligence.

David Walliams, a children's book author, is also taking action against ITN and the Guardian over an injunction related to his work. A court has been told that Walliams' book may have breached copyright laws by featuring characters from a popular TV show.

In another case, pharma giants Merck Sharp & Dohme and Merck KGaA are continuing their litigation over rights to the Merck name in the UK. The dispute between the two companies has been ongoing for some time, with each side claiming ownership of the brand.
