UK Student Visa Rules Tighten Grip on Unacceptable Financial Assets

The UK government has released guidelines for student visa applications that specify which financial assets are eligible as proof of funds. According to the new rules, certain types of bank accounts and investments will not be accepted, regardless of their value.

Cryptocurrency holdings, stocks, and shares are among the excluded assets. Even if an applicant holds a significant amount in these assets, they will not count towards meeting the financial requirements for a student visa.

The restrictions also apply to unregulated bank accounts and those that use manual or paper-based record-keeping. Applicants with savings in such accounts may need to transfer their funds into regulated, electronically managed bank accounts before submitting their visa application.
