UMich Chooses Coca-Cola as Exclusive Beverage Supplier
The University of Michigan has chosen Coca-Cola as its exclusive beverage supplier for all dining venues, vending machines, and athletic events across its Ann Arbor, Flint, Dearborn, and Michigan Medicine campuses.
The new agreement, which was finalized on May 21, replaces multiple suppliers that could provide beverages under separate agreements to the University. Over the next several months, locations across the University will transition to serving solely beverages from Coca-Cola and its partner brands.
Coca-Cola obtained pouring rights, an exclusive contract granting the brand the sole right to sell and serve on University premises. The selection process took over a year, with the U-M Pouring Rights Evaluation Committee assessing beverage supplier bids from four major companies: Coca-Cola, Keurig Dr. Pepper, PepsiCo, and Red Bull.
The committee consisted of representatives from each University campus and gathered input from more than 3,000 students, employees, and retirees through online surveys and virtual town hall meetings.
