UN and Google Unveil Data Platform for Global Statistics
The United Nations and Google have launched a new platform called the 'UN Google Data Commons Data System' to make global statistics more accessible to people and artificial intelligence systems.
The initiative addresses a significant weakness in AI systems: even trusted statistics can produce incomplete, inconsistent, or difficult-to-verify answers.
The platform is built on Google's Data Commons' open infrastructure and supports the Model Context Protocol (MCP), which enables AI agents to query statistical databases directly and verify the provenance of the information they receive.
