Under-the-Radar Dividend Stocks Gain Attention Amid S&P 500 Tech Dominance
As the S&P 500 index becomes increasingly dominated by tech giants Apple and Nvidia, investors may be overlooking other attractive dividend-paying stocks. Two companies that stand out are PPG Industries (PPG) and UnitedHealth Group (UNH), both of which have strong operations and market presence.
PPG Industries is a global paints and coatings supplier with a diverse customer base across multiple regions. The company generates significant revenue from its industrial coatings, performance coatings, and architectural coatings segments, and has a market capitalization of $23.8 billion. PPG is building out its aerospace and protective and marine coatings capacity, supported by a backlog of over $300 million and related investments of over $500 million.
However, the company's margin story may be quietly decoupling from investor expectations due to less visible cost and pricing pressure. UnitedHealth Group, on the other hand, is a large and profitable healthcare business that provides integrated health care solutions through its UnitedHealthcare, Optum Rx, Optum Health, and Optum Insight segments.
The company has been addressing changes in Medicare membership profiles, which impacted 2025 revenue, and taking measures to ensure complex patients engage in clinical and value-based programs. The outcome of this strategy will impact the company's margins and revenue mix.
