UNH Expands Behavioral Coaching, Cuts Prior Authorizations for Millions
UnitedHealth Group (NYSE:UNH) has expanded its child and family behavioral coaching service to approximately 13 million commercial members, marking a significant increase from its previous narrower reach.
This move is part of the company's efforts to reshape how members and clinicians interact with its administrative machinery. A program announced in the spring aims to remove prior authorization requirements for a substantial share of services by the end of this year.
The gold card arrangement rewards clinician groups that consistently follow evidence-based guidelines with streamlined approvals, allowing them to focus on patient care rather than administrative tasks.
