United Airlines Cancels Tone-Deaf 9/11 Memorial Flyover

United Airlines faced widespread criticism for its planned '9/11 memorial tribute' in Denver. The event was meant to evoke the scenes of September 11, 2001, when fighter jets were scrambled to intercept hijacked aircraft.

The airline had scheduled a Boeing 777 to fly low over Denver accompanied by a squadron of F-16s at 9:03 a.m., the precise minute terrorists crashed United Airlines Flight 175 into the South Tower of the World Trade Center. However, after community members raised concerns about the appropriateness and tone-deafness of the event, United Airlines canceled it.

The Denver Office of Emergency Management had announced the flyover plans on Tuesday, describing it as 'intended to honor and remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001.'
