A United Airlines Boeing 777 flying from Milan to Newark was diverted to Bangor, Maine on September 8 after an intoxicated passenger became violent and belligerent.

Kristina Kedysheva, the passenger in question, allegedly demanded more alcohol despite being refused by flight attendants. She continued to argue with crew members and eventually bit one of them on the wrist during a struggle to restrain her.

The incident occurred while the plane was flying at 35,000 feet above the Atlantic Ocean. The Captain chose to divert the aircraft to Bangor rather than continuing to Newark, where Kedysheva was taken into custody.
