United Deploys Premium Boeing 787-9s on San Francisco-Sydney Route

United Airlines is set to deploy its premium-heavy Boeing 787-9s on a new route from San Francisco International Airport (SFO) in California to Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport (SYD) in Australia. The service will begin on December 2, with the Elevated layout featuring 64 Polaris business class flatbeds and 35 premium economy recliners.

The move comes as part of United's strategy to capitalize on growing demand for premium seating configurations, particularly on long-haul routes. The carrier has already introduced its 'Elevated' Boeing 787-9 layout on four other routes from San Francisco to London Heathrow, Seoul Incheon, Singapore Changi, and Zurich.

The new Sydney route will initially operate three times a week before increasing to daily frequencies from December 17. The Elevated layout will be present on the route for almost two months before dropping back to its initial frequency in February next year.
