United Expands Global Reach with 10 New Destinations and Nonstop Ljubljana Flights

United Airlines has announced its largest international network expansion in history, adding ten new international destinations to its roster for the 2027 summer season. Among the additions is Ljubljana, Slovenia's capital city, which will gain a nonstop connection to New York via Newark Liberty International Airport.

The route, set to begin on May 12, 2027, will be operated by a Boeing 767-400ER with four weekly flights. This marks the only nonstop service between Slovenia and the United States operated by a U.S. airline.

United's expansion plans have significant implications for Croatia, where the carrier has already launched its nonstop Newark-Split service this year. Split will return in summer 2027, operating three times per week, while Dubrovnik will continue to receive seasonal connections from Newark.

The addition of Ljubljana means that passengers from the wider Zagreb area will have access to United's nonstop flights from a nearby airport, potentially capturing part of the demand for a separate Zagreb route. With eight of the ten new cities announced in 2027 lacking nonstop service from another U.S. airline, United is solidifying its position as a major player in international air travel.
