United Upgrades Sydney Route to Premium-Equipped Boeing 787-9
United Airlines is upgrading its San Francisco-Sydney route to feature the Elevated Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, offering passengers a more premium experience. The upgrade is scheduled to begin in December 2026 and will operate throughout the Southern Hemisphere's summer season.
The new configuration features 222 seats, including 35 premium economy recliners, 123 economy seats, and 39 extra-legroom positions. This equates to 99 premium seats, a significant increase from the standard 64 seats on the carrier's standard 787-9.
United's Elevated Boeing 787-9 will offer Polaris Studio seats designed to enhance privacy and provide more space for passengers. The cabin will also feature seat-back entertainment, connectivity, and other additional features.
