UnitedHealth Dividend Keeps Rising Despite Flat Stock Price
UnitedHealth's stock price has remained largely stagnant over the past five years, but its dividend payments have continued to rise steadily. The company's quarterly dividend payout now stands at $2.32 per share, up from $1.45 in mid-2021 and representing a significant increase since 2010 when it was first introduced.
The dividend growth has been impressive, with the company maintaining its payout increases every year despite facing challenges such as a brutal 2025, which saw operating income fall 50.45% and a $2.88 billion pre-tax charge cutting GAAP EPS to just $0.01. However, in a statement, Chief Executive Stephen Hemsley framed the year as one where the company 'confronted challenges directly' and emerged stronger.
The recent trend is healthier for shareholders, with the stock price increasing 16.70% year-to-date and 12.72% over the past year. However, the five-year picture paints a different story, with the stock price gaining just 3.30%. The company's operating cash flow has increased to $24 billion in 2026, comfortably covering its dividend payments of around $8 billion.
