UnitedHealthcare and Team Health Settle $100M Fraud Lawsuit
UnitedHealthcare and Team Health have settled a $100 million fraud lawsuit in Tennessee. The suit, filed by UHC in October 2021, alleged that Team Health upcoded claims for services worth about $100 million.
According to court documents, the parties notified the courts of their settlement intentions in mid-August and voluntarily dismissed the case last week.
The filing notes that each side will cover its own attorneys' fees and costs. UnitedHealthcare argued that Team Health's size and influence allowed it to drive up medical costs.
