UnitedHealthcare CEO Killer Pleads Guilty to Federal Charges

Luigi Mangione pleaded guilty to two federal stalking counts in connection with the shooting death of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.

Mangione admitted to traveling to New York City for UnitedHealthcare's annual investor conference, where he used a 3-D printer to make part of a gun and shot Thompson on December 4, 2024.

The killing took place in Midtown Manhattan, and Mangione was arrested in Pennsylvania after a five-day manhunt.

Mangione's defense attorneys filed a motion to dismiss the state charges under New York's double jeopardy law, citing the federal guilty plea as grounds for dismissal.
