UnitedHealthcare Unveils 2027 Medicare Plans with $0 Premiums and Broader Benefits
UnitedHealth Group's UnitedHealthcare has introduced its 2027 Medicare Advantage plans, focusing on delivering affordable rates and expanded benefits to seniors. The insurer aims to make healthcare more accessible by reducing out-of-pocket expenses and offering specialized plan options.
The 2027 lineup offers $0 premiums for approximately 90% of eligible consumers within the footprint, as well as $0 copays for primary care visits, preventive services, and Tier 1 prescription drugs. Beneficiaries also gain access to dental, vision, and hearing benefits that standard Medicare generally excludes.
UnitedHealthcare prioritizes Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) plans alongside specialized dual-eligible and chronic condition offerings, with HMO options reaching roughly 95% of eligible individuals. Dual Special Needs Plans (D-SNPs) will cover about 74% of dual-eligible individuals to better coordinate Medicare and Medicaid benefits.
The updated UCard technology separates health plan information onto a dedicated Member ID card while upgrading the UCard for rewards and credits, allowing qualifying D-SNP members to pay utility bills in real time.
