UnitedHealth Group (UNH) stock fell by approximately 3% on Wednesday as news broke that the company had sold a stake in some of its Optum Health clinics in Florida to private equity firm TPG.

The deal, which aims to speed up growth and improve operating performance, involves the sale of Optum's WellMed unit, which serves older patients. The impacted clinics will remain within the wider Optum network and continue to operate under the same value-based care model.

UnitedHealth CFO Wayne DeVeydt stated that the company did not require additional funds but needed a partner that could provide local support and focus on growth. He expressed confidence that teaming up with TPG would enable the clinics to expand faster, allowing UnitedHealth to concentrate on its operational turnaround.
