UnitedHealth's Turnaround Gains Traction Amid Solid Q2 Results
UnitedHealth Group's turnaround is gaining traction, according to management at the company's latest conference. The healthcare giant reported stronger Medicare Advantage performance and a steadier Medicaid outlook.
Medicare Advantage margins are tracking towards the upper half of the company's 2-4% target range for 2026, while Medicaid is running near the low end of its guided loss range. However, management said that 2026 should mark the trough before recovery in 2027.
The company also highlighted pressure in parts of the commercial business and ongoing work in Optum Health and Optum Insight, but noted that the recovery is advancing, if not yet complete. Investors seem to be rewarding progress, with UnitedHealth Group's stock surging over 41% in the past six months.
