Unlock Your Pixel: Enable These Essential Settings for a Better Phone Experience

When you get a new Google Pixel phone, it's exciting to explore its features and settings. However, some of the most powerful and convenient features are turned off by default. This is likely done to conserve battery life and avoid overwhelming new users with too many options.

Google has intentionally left these features disabled to encourage users to dig through menus and discover them on their own. But why should you have to do that? By enabling a few essential settings, you can make your Pixel phone more useful and enjoyable to use.

The first setting to consider is Smooth Display, which automatically adjusts your screen's refresh rate to 90Hz or 120Hz, depending on your model. This feature makes the operating system feel fast and fluid, especially when scrolling through articles or playing graphics-intensive games.

Another useful feature is Now Playing, which detects songs playing around you and shows their name and artist on your lock screen. This feature uses a local database to match audio recordings, protecting your privacy while saving data. To enable it, go to Settings > Sound & Vibration > Now Playing and flip the toggle.

The Notification History feature is another lifesaver. It keeps a chronological log of every notification you've received over the past 24 hours, allowing you to interact with dismissed alerts as if they were still on your screen. This feature can be accessed by swiping down from the top of your screen and tapping the clock symbol.

Lastly, Flip to Shh is a gesture-based control that puts your phone in Do Not Disturb mode when set face down on a flat surface. This elegant solution helps you disconnect from your phone during important moments and avoid distractions.
