Urban Outfitters Logs Strongest Quarter Ever in Operating Profit
Urban Outfitters delivered its strongest quarter ever in terms of operating profit at the Goldman Sachs Global Consumer and Retail Conference. The company reported second-quarter sales of $1.7 billion, up 10%, with record sales and improving profits driving growth across its portfolio.
The retailer's brands are performing well, led by Free People and Urban Outfitters, which posted comparable sales increases of 10% and 8%, respectively. Anthropologie comps rose 3%, while Nuuly topped 500,000 subscribers and saw top-line growth of 29%.
Frank Conforti, co-president and chief operating officer, said the company's strength comes from its collective performance rather than any single banner. 'The strength of the collective is honestly the thing that we're the most proud of right now,' he stated.
