US Air Force Places $1.2 Billion Order for 22 F-15EX Fighter Jets from Boeing
The U.S. Air Force has awarded Boeing a contract for 22 F-15EX Eagle II fighter aircraft in an effort to preserve available congressional funding and maintain production of the advanced variant.
The agreement, known as Lot 7, comes as the F-15EX program faces disruptions due to a 2025 production halt and broader inflation across the U.S. defense industrial base.
Brig. Gen. Timothy Helfrich, portfolio acquisition executive for the Fighters and Advanced Aircraft Directorate, stated that 'Lot 7 reflects a disciplined approach to executing available resources while balancing the realities affecting defense production.'
The F-15EX is a twin-seat, multirole heavy fighter with modern avionics, large-area cockpit displays, and enhanced survivability features.
