US Companies Receive Tariff Refunds Totalling Billions
Large companies are receiving tariff refunds from the US government as part of a relief effort. Garmin, which owns JL Audio, reported that it received $21 million in tariff refunds last week, citing this refund as a major contributor to its 14% gain in marine sector revenue.
The company's Q2 revenue rose to $341 million, up from $299 million the year before. This is part of a larger trend: JVCKENWOOD Corp. also received a portion of refunds related to the US IEEPA tariffs.
Amazon announced that it has received $600 million in refunds and plans to return some of the monies to customers where possible. Automotive companies expect to receive approximately $2.3 billion in tariff refunds, with Ford entitled to a $1.3 billion refund and GM to $500 million.
